Boat Trips

Lake Kivu Boat Trips
Picture
🕑 ½ hour - full day
From $40
Boat Trips on Lake Kivu are operated by one of our knowledgeable and experienced local guides. Much more than a transfer, as you journey across the water, they will show you the interesting sights and explain the places that you're passing by.
When making a booking, look out for the optional lunches on uninhabited islands or visits to some of the community experiences such as coffee tours, craft workshops and beekeeping that are a fantastic way to find out about life in rural communities and make your trip into a real experience.
Your boat captain will also stop on request to take you on a short walk along the lakeshore, or on some trips you can visit Nyamunini Island (colloquially known as Napoleon Island - because it's shaped like his famous hat) where you'll have the chance to hike to the summit and see a raucous colony of fruit bats that roost in the trees in the day time.

You can also include these experiences in our tours, or hire a car to build your own independent tour of Rwanda.

Foreign medical insurance is not sufficient to cover helicopter evacuation in Rwanda so all our tours include emergency evacuation insurance as standard. We also strongly recommend emergency evacuation insurance to everyone travelling in Rwanda.
We pay fair wages and always contribute to the pensions, maternity and community health schemes for everyone who works for us.
