Whilst maintaining a safe distance, supported by the park ranger, on a visit to the mountain gorillas of Rwanda, you will literally walk amongst these amazing primates. They will be in front of you, behind you, to your left and right, swinging in the trees above you.
"There is more meaning and mutual understanding in exchanging a glance with a gorilla than any other animal I know"
David Attenborough
Boisterous adolescents will be misbehaving, just like teenagers, playful infants will be constantly demanding attention of their parents as aunts and uncles wander together in an extended family group under the watchful eye of the silverback. You may only be a visitor, but you will be briefly part of their family in a truly, remarkable, personal and authentic way.

Following the pioneering work of Dian Fossey in the 1970s and 1980s when they were in real trouble, today the number of mountain gorillas in Rwanda - and neighbouring counties - has significantly increased. Now despite still being endangered, as a result of intense efforts to protect them and conserve their natural habitat,
in 2018 mountain gorillas were removed from the IUCN's list of critically endangered species. Mountain gorillas are just one species of gorillas in Africa all of which are critically endangered or endangered, and the tiny fragment of their former range is very fragile. However, as veteran broadcaster David Attenborough explains, the work that is now taking place to enable them to thrive is a remarkable message of hope. You can learn more by visiting the Ellen DeGeneres Campus
of the Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund in Rwanda.
Book a gorilla tour online or a book a gorilla permit with Kingfisher Journeys.
You will never forget the time you spend with these incredible primates.

Important: To protect the Primates in the forest from Covid-19, a negative PCR Test is required to enter Volcanoes NP, even for non-primate visits. Please refer to the official Visit Rwanda rules, which may change without notice.
National Park activities are operated by the park authorities. Times are an estimate of the duration of your visit including travel time after meeting your guide. Primate wildlife experiences including gorillas, golden monkeys, colobus and chimpanzees require trekking on foot in the forest, which, with the exception of golden monkeys can be slippery and steep, and includes one hour of close wildlife observation. Prices shown here are for the permit only. Transport is not included. For inclusive options, please select one of our tours or excursions.
Include a visit to the gorillas as part of any of our tours or hire a car to build your own independent tour of Rwanda.
